DAEGU - A Day in Daegu, South Korea

Daegu is a large city in South Korea with so much to do! It is actually the 3rd largest city in South Korea after Seoul and Busan- so you have to check it out.

How to get there:

Driving: Driving to Daegu from Camp Humphreys or Osan Air Force Base will take 2 hours and 45 minutes depending on the traffic.

Train: you can take a bus or taxi to the Pyeongtaek Station (20 min from base) and buy a ticket that will be a 1.5 hr train ride to Dongdaegu Station. From there you will take a bus to wherever you want to go in Daegu! The travel time would be about the same, 2 hrs and 45 min depending on where you live. Use the Naver App, load up your T-Money card and you will not have any issues. If you don’t know what these things are, make sure to read my post on the basic things you need to know about living in South Korea first, HERE!

The perfect day in Daegu!

Truly Baker

After you arrive and find parking (unless you took the train!) you should definitely start your day at Truly Baker, this retro bakery with DELICIOUS bagels and shakes. I found this place on TikTok and it did not disappoint. We got a rainbow bagel with oreo cream cheese. I think if we would have gotten a shake too I would have gone into a sugar coma, but it would have made for a pretty cute photo, hah!

Sparkland

We spent a lot of our day at Sparkland which is basically a large amusement park style area with all kinds of things to do! We got an all day pass so we could do all of the activities. Inside they have a section with all kinds of VR (virtual reality) games, laser tag, indoor batting cages, rock climbing, and more! This all day pass also gets you access to the ferris wheel outside, but it was closed due to the rain at the end of the day for us. My favorite part of Sparkland was probably the laser tag.

Dongseongno Street

Dongseongno Street is a big fashion district in Daegu and it is lined with shops on shops on shops! This is the busiest shopping street in Daegu so you are sure to find whatever you’re looking for. Before we settled on spending most of our day at Sparkland, we walked up and down this street and did some light shopping.

Hi Thai

Chicken Pad Thai from Hi Thai

This is truly a hidden gem. If you like Thai food, you would love Hi Thai, a very small restaurant just around the corner from Sparkland. Jacob and I absolutely love chicken pad thai, and this was one of the best i’ve had! We also got some spring rolls to start. This restaurant is a hidden gem because it is so teeny tiny, I think only 3 or 4 parties could really sit in there!

83 Tower

The 83 Tower is also called the Daegu Tower and it’s located in Duryu Park in the center of the city (EWorld). You don’t have to purchase admission into EWorld to go to the tower. You do have to purchase a ticket to get to the top of the tower though. At the observatory they have a cafe, restaurant, photo spots, binoculars to look out at the view of Daegu, and souvenirs!
